A Cut Above: Barbershops and Belonging
This was good until the myths started being told at 4:45 Only super vain women cinched tight. And the corset did not deform the body - the drawing is exaggerated, models posed to give the body that shape, they used padding, etc.
Dacă nu sunteți în stare să faceți un video de ce vă mai apucati?! Aș fi vrut să văd clar acele costume superbe, dar cine a filmat a făcut-o de mântuială.
1:10 This is mostly a myth. Only a scant few ultra-vain women cinched their waists uncomfortably. The "small waist" is an illusion created by the humongous skirt.
How lovely
Gotta have them all
Lovely dress
I love all 4
💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💕💋💋💋
Lovely ❤
I gotta have them
I want those dresses
Now women are wearing men
So lovely and divine ❤
So beautiful ❤
That camel hat with the orange trim! *Drool*
SORT OF ??? Such and such fabric, get a grip, not a sewers term... nobody will understand the terms and names of fabric if the curaters cannot identify then❤❤get someone who knows, the real names of things..jeesxxx
Men where in uniform and gone, killed on the battlefield,MIA...So there would have been ALOT of men's clothes around, left behind, and women would have utilised both the garment and harvesting the fabric, buttons ect,..🎉🎉🎉🎉
I was so born in the wrong century. I absolutely adore the late antebellum period clothing.
Absolutely beautiful!
Such a wonderful show, yet to a lay person I had to dig hard on the Internet to find the 5 "W's" of Mullholland's life, training, intent, etc. It was disconcerting to enter the exhibit and see so many exquisite examples of costume as art, but not know who the artist was/is, why it was here, where did he store his wardrobe, how did he accomplish the collection, how much more does he own, what did he actually do, what is he doing now, etc. The interviews online provided most of the answers, but it would be preferable in an exhibit to have them presented on a large screen. Mr. Mulholland is a knowledgeable and talented personality, and needs to be celebrated as well as his design tastes. Nonetheless, the exhibit was memorable! Thank you.
Beautiful dresses
I saw 3 rooms and an exhibit upstairs. Disappointed.
I sincerely thank you for posting this video. I loved every minute of it.
Would someone please tell me where Almighty God and Jesus Christ are? Would you please explain to me why you insist that I attend church every Sunday, but you never allow me to speak to Eli or Yeshua. You won't let me have access to these clothes, or to the court and staff appropriate for this kind of clothes. So then why can't I work on the Sabbath? I could make my own clothes in this style if I could work on the Sabbath. There are not enough hours in a week to get that done and also attend church.
Astonishing. Thank you ❤
I appreciated the descriptions on the trouseau .
I really enjoyed this video 🌟 Thanks for your channel ❣️
My great grandmother who was born in 1896 in Vienna Austria was my height 5'8 so just like today depends if you are tall or not....love this video thanks so much.
Girls would spend time walking with book on head to get the gliding walk necessary to keep the hoops from rocking which was considered vulgar and possibly indecent exposing ankles
"Unpaid Labor" Is called SLAVERY if you are trying to hide a word is because your trying to hide something else
Why are none of the links discussed in this video included here? No links. No email addresses. Nothing. ?????
On the frontier the bride wore her best dress. Black was a popular choice as it could be worn many times.
Also, ankles did appear in the 1700s.
One would not be cooking at a fire in such a fine fluffy dress. One would wear a work dress.
Learning so much
Never liked the eighties fashion with the bold shoulder pads it made women look very muscular at the shoulders. I used to take mine out if I bought a outfit. Thanks for sharing the different fashions through the different centuries.
I also removed my shoulder pads. I didn't understand why someone would want to look like a football player.
They seem not as nice as the European ones. They look groove actually not as fine.
Would love to see how women stored away these dresses --but never do.
Very informative. I do note, however, that the word slave and the word slavery was never used. What is that about. Just saying that those who worked the cotton plantations "did not receive compensation for their labor" is ridiculous. They were slaves. And, you're allowed to speak the word. I realize KSU is in Ohio which has gone very much to the right politically, but really people.
wow very informative tour. thanks for taking the time for such a great presentation.
Those pantaloons are what made the can can dance so scandalous. Women would lift their legs often showing everything below.
we are catholic and our families Alsatian hats are black - you see more colors now but many had black - after WWII was over people in my mothers village-grand parents - many put on their Alsatian costumes to celebrate w the village (great video)
Yes, Catholic women in Alsace wear black headbows after they are married but traditionally before marriage they would wear brightly colored or patterned bows.
I love these fashion videos from KSU museum.
That's quite a stretch to compare the Victorian shawl to a Berber. They look nothing alike
Very touching and heartwarming exposition 😍😍😍Thanks a lot🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
I’m absolutely blown away! This was so incredibly well done from top to bottom. I only wish I’d been lucky enough to witness it in person. Thank you both, excited for more!
Thank you for watching
i didnt realize wearing white was such a recent tradition
Absolutely interesting video!, thanks a lot!
Yo pienso que VII en esa época por me encanta los vestidos de epoco
Would you mind sharing a link to the twisted paper cord you are using? I'm only finding 2mm thick cord which seems much, much smaller than yours...
